QED is looking for anAssistant Laboratory Managerto support the day-to-day operation of our asbestos laboratory in Bibra Lake.

Working closely with our Laboratory Manager, you'll play a key role in maintaining laboratory quality, supporting accreditation requirements, coordinating workflows and helping develop a small, high-performing team.

About the Role
As the Assistant Laboratory Manager, you'll support the technical and operational performance of the laboratory while continuing to undertake specialist laboratory analysis and hazardous materials assessments.
You'll support the coordination of laboratory workflows, maintaining quality systems,



mentoring team members and ensuring our laboratory continues to meet accreditation, compliance and client service expectations.
You'll balance hands-on laboratory work with quality management, client communication and continuous improvement initiatives.
What You'll Be Doing
· Support the coordination of the day-to-day workflow of the Hazardous Materials Laboratory.
· Perform laboratory analysis and support hazardous materials investigations.
· Act as a laboratory signatory for Certificates of Analysis within delegated authority.
· Mentor and support Laboratory Analysts, helping build technical capability and confidence.
· Assist with maintaining and improving our Quality Management System (QMS) and implementing and maintaining our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
· Support internal and external audits and accreditation activities.
· Manage laboratory stock, procurement and equipment records.
· Provide technical advice to clients and internal stakeholders.
· Identify opportunities to improve laboratory processes, efficiency and service delivery.
· Champion safe work practices and contribute to a positive, respectful workplace culture.
About You
You'll be an experienced laboratory professional who enjoys both technical work and helping others succeed.
You'll bring:




· At least 5 years' experience in asbestos and hazardous materials, environmental consulting, laboratory operations or a related field.
· Strong technical knowledge of laboratory methods and scientific instrumentation.
· Experience supporting quality systems, accreditation or audit processes.
· Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
· The confidence to provide technical guidance and mentor less experienced staff.
· A commitment to workplace safety, quality and continuous improvement.
· Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
· A relevant degree (or equivalent laboratory management experience).
· A current driver's licence and National Police Clearance.
