About the Role
The Sport Development Officer supports the fair and efficient use of the Shire's sports facilities by working closely with community clubs, internal teams to manage seasonal allocations, bookings, and day-to-day operational needs across 170 clubs and 34 reserves.
Acting as the first point of contact for clubs, the role provides clear guidance on processes, helps resolve operational issues, maintains accurate club information, and contributes to club development initiatives.
With a strong focus on relationships and communication, the position plays a key role in ensuring positive participation experiences and supporting well managed, community focused sporting environments.
Reporting to the Coordinator – Peninsula Sport Development, the core responsibilities include:




Act as a responsive first point of contact for approximately 170 sports clubs.
Support operations, including season handovers, allocations, and pre-season requests.
Manage casual booking and club access requests.
Maintain accurate club records and provide clear, timely communication.
Deliver and support club development initiatives.
Build strong partnerships with clubs, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
Undertake facility audits and contribute to process improvements that enhance operational consistency
About You
Education & Experience
You hold a tertiary qualification in sport and recreation and bring experience in community sport or volunteer coordination.
You're skilled in administration and customer service, with the ability to manage club follow-ups professionally and efficiently.
You're confident working with diverse stakeholders and proficient in MS Office within fast paced, complex environments such as local government.
Written & Oral Communication
You communicate clearly and respectfully, adapting your style to suit different audiences.
You bring strong emotional intelligence, collaborate effectively with colleagues and community groups, and approach challenges with a solution focused mindset.
You plan and prioritise well, maintaining integrity and contributing positively to team wellbeing.
