Support the mental health and wellbeing of Australia's creative community.
Hey Mate is expanding our national clinical team and is seeking experiencedpsychologists and counsellorsto provide industry-specific therapeutic support to people working across Australia's creative industries.

Hey Mate is a social enterprise dedicated to improving mental health and wellbeing across Australia's creative industries.
We work with artists, musicians, performers, production crews, freelancers, arts workers, creative organisations, festivals, peak bodies and government partners.

Industry-specific counselling and psychological support

Our clients may experience the common challenges of creative work, including insecure employment, financial uncertainty, irregular hours, touring, burnout, isolation, public scrutiny, workplace stress and the emotional demands of sustaining a creative career.

About the opportunity
As a contract clinician with Hey Mate, you will provide confidential telehealth support to adult clients referred through our intake team.
Clients may access support through Hey Mate's:
Employee Assistance Programs
Private counselling services
Government and community-funded programs
Subsidised and hardship support pathways
Creative industry wellbeing projects
You can nominate your availability, referral capacity, areas of practice and preferred client presentations.
Depending on your interests and experience, there may also be opportunities to contribute to workshops, group programs, industry resources and broader wellbeing initiatives.
Key responsibilities
Provide high-quality, evidence-informed therapeutic support via telehealth
Deliver short-term, person-centred and solution-focused interventions
Complete clinical assessments, treatment planning and case documentation
Undertake risk assessments and safety planning when required
Identify and make appropriate referrals to additional or specialist services
Work collaboratively with Hey Mate's Intake and Practice team
Maintain professional, ethical and confidentiality standards
Contribute to a safe, inclusive and culturally responsive service
About you
You will be a fully qualified and experienced clinician with a genuine understanding of, connection to or interest in Australia's creative industries.
Psychologists
To be considered as a psychologist, you will have:
Current general or endorsed registration with AHPRA
Relevant postgraduate qualifications in psychology
Experience providing psychological support to adults
Strong clinical assessment and risk-management skills
Current professional indemnity and public liability insurance
Confidence working independently through telehealth
Strong written documentation and communication skills
Psychologists who are eligible to provide Medicare-funded services or are open to supporting bulk-billed and subsidised programs are strongly encouraged to apply.
Counsellors
To be considered as a counsellor, you will have:
A recognised tertiary qualification in counselling
Current registration with PACFA or ACA
Demonstrated experience providing therapeutic support to adults
Strong assessment, documentation and risk-management skills
Current professional indemnity and public liability insurance
Confidence working independently through telehealth
A strong professional background in, connection to or understanding of the creative industries

Referral volume will vary according to client demand, clinical experience, location and funded program requirements.
