About the Role
We are currently recruitingCasual Disability Support Workersto support an adult male participant residing in aSupported Independent Living (SIL) homein Southport on the Gold Coast.
The participant has a range of complex support needs and requiresconsistent, reliable support workerswho are committed to maintaining a stable roster and building a trusting therapeutic relationship.
Supports include:
Supported Independent Living (SIL)
Community Access Supports (CAS)
Daily living assistance
Community participation and social engagement
Emotional regulation and wellbeing supports
This role is ideal for experienced Disability Support Workers seekingongoing, regular shiftsrather than ad-hoc casual work.
Key Role Details
Employment Type:Casual with ongoing roster
Location:Southport, Gold Coast QLD
Setting:Supported Independent Living (SIL)
Roster & Hours
Applicantsmust be available for a minimum of four (4) days each weekand be able to commit to an ongoing roster.
Roster includes:
Community Access Shifts
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Approximately3 shifts per week
Inactive Sleepover Shifts
4:00 PM – 8:00 AM (next day)
Inactive sleepover
Minimumthree (3) sleepover shifts per week
Applicantsmust be willing and available to work regular overnight sleepover shifts.
If you are not available for ongoing sleepover shifts, please do not apply.
Consistency is essential for this participant, and preference will be given to applicants seeking long-term roster commitments.
Understanding the Participant
The participant enjoys maintaining a structured routine and values support workers who are respectful, calm, patient, and dependable.
Successful support workers understand the importance of:
Respecting participant choice and independence.
Building trust through consistency.
Following established routines.




Remaining calm during periods of emotional dysregulation.
Providing encouragement rather than taking control.
The participant responds best to familiar staff who demonstrate genuine care and professionalism.
Unexpected cancellations, lateness, or inconsistent attendance can significantly impact the participant's wellbeing and routine.
For this reason,punctuality, reliability, and commitment to scheduled shifts are non-negotiable requirements of this position.
Key Responsibilities
As a Disability Support Worker, you will:
Support the participant within their Supported Independent Living home.
Assist with daily living activities and personal support where required.
Support community participation and appointments.
Promote independence and participant choice.
Implement Positive Behaviour Support strategies.
Complete accurate shift notes and documentation.
Maintain a safe and supportive home setting.
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
Build a respectful and therapeutic relationship with the participant.
What We're Looking For
Successful applicants will demonstrate:
Previous Supported Independent Living (SIL) experience.
Experience supporting participants with complex behaviours.
Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
Strong understanding of person-centred support.
Calm, patient, and compassionate approach.
Excellent communication and active listening skills.
Professional boundaries and sound judgement.
Reliability and commitment to an ongoing roster.




Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, public holidays, and overnight sleepover shifts.
Applicants looking for only occasional or irregular work are unlikely to be suitable for this position.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
Current Blue Card.
Current First Aid & CPR Certificate.
Current Australian Driver's Licence.
Reliable motor vehicle with Comprehensive or Third-Party Property Insurance.
Current NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
Full Australian working rights.
