An exciting and rewarding opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, reliable and motivated Open Space & Setting Officer to join Adelaide Plains Council on a two-year fixed term contract, contributing to the successful delivery of Council's works program.
Based at the Mallala Depot, you will support the day-to-day operations of the Open Space & Environment team, assisting with the maintenance and enhancement of Council's parks, reserves and natural environments.
In this role, you will help ensure these community spaces remain safe, attractive and sustainable for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Responsibilities include:
Under the general direction of the Team Leader Open Space & Environment, you will:
Contribute to the maintenance, presentation and enhancement of Council's open spaces, including parks, reserves, ovals, cemeteries, streetscapes and gardens.
Ensure Council's open spaces remain safe, attractive, and well maintained by undertaking horticultural, grounds maintenance and operational support activities that enhance community wellbeing and protect environmental values.
Safely operate and maintain plant, equipment, tools and materials in an efficient and cost effective manner.
Work collaboratively within the team to deliver high quality public spaces in accordance with Council standards,



work health and safety requirements, and environmental sustainability practices.
Who we are looking for:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Demonstrated experience in an Open Space & Environment or similar role;
Tertiary qualification in Horticulture (or related discipline);
Current Medium Rigid (MR) Licence;
White Card;
Work Zone Traffic Management Accreditation
Accreditation in chemical application (ChemCert Desirable);
Chainsaw ticket (desirable);
Current Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain);
Valid and unrestricted working rights in Australia.
