About the role
We are seeking an experiencedStore Manager - Petrol, Convenience & Takeawayto join Tropic Petroleum in Townsville, QLD.
This is a full-time position based on-site at ourAmpol Garbuttlocation.
As Store Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management and operation of our retail convenience store, petrol station, and takeaway facilities.
This role is strategically important to our business, as you will be driving sales, ensuring excellent customer service, managing staff performance, and maintaining compliance across all operational areas.
You will play a key role in delivering profitability and maintaining the high standards expected of an Ampol-branded site.
Key responsibilities
Oversee daily store operations including petrol station, convenience store, and takeaway services to ensure smooth, efficient running of the site
Manage and motivate a team of staff members, including recruitment, training, scheduling and development
Drive sales and revenue growth through effective merchandising, promotional strategies, and customer service excellence
Maintain stock levels and manage inventory across petrol, convenience products and takeaway items, ensuring optimal stock rotation and minimising wastage
Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental and legal regulations, including those specific to fuel retail operations
Monitor financial performance, manage budgets, control costs and work towards profitability targets
Deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming environment that encourages repeat business
Maintain cleanliness, presentation and safety standards throughout the store, forecourt and takeaway areas
Report on store performance metrics and communicate with senior management regarding operational challenges and opportunities
Manage cash handling, reconciliation and security procedures
What we're looking for
Proven experience in retail store management, ideally within a petrol station, convenience store or similar multi-faceted retail environment
Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to recruit, train, motivate and manage teams effectively
Demonstrated ability to drive sales and achieve financial targets whilst maintaining operational efficiency
Knowledge of petrol station operations and fuel retail compliance requirements is highly advantageous
Excellent customer service orientation with a track record of building customer loyalty
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Proficiency with retail management systems and point-of-sale technology
Sound understanding of health, safety and compliance obligations in retail and fuel retail environments
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with head office teams and external Trade Partners
Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays as required for retail operations
A valid driver's licence and willingness to support forecourt operations as needed
