The Opportunity
St Thomas More School is seeking to appoint a Curriculum Education Support Officer.
Education Support Officers have a key role in modelling the Mercy values of our school and contributing to the creation of a safe environment where students can strive to reach their full potential.
Working under the direction of the classroom teacher, you will support learning and wellbeing by assisting with classroom programs and contributing to the overall educational experience of our students.
Multiple positions working across Reception- Year 6 classrooms and Specialist teaching areas.
This is a permanent, part-time position, working a possible ******* hours per week
Key responsibilitiesinclude:
We are seeking an enthusiastic Educator who will demonstrate an ability to:
Assist in maintaining a positive and respectful classroom environment
Provide instruction to students within the learning environment
Apply personal knowledge and initiative to suggest modifications to educational programs to meet the learning needs of specific students, subject to approval of the teacher.
Supervise and care for students with formally identified special needs, following Personalised Plans for Learning (PPL)
Assist students in small groups and one-on-one settings to support learning across all curriculum areas
Provide yard duty support/coaching to students in accordance with school procedures.
Assist teachers with the care and supervision of students during excursions, sports days, activities and other classroom or educational activities.
About You
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
Willingness to uphold and actively contributing to the Catholic ethos and Mercy values of St Thomas More School.
Demonstrated ability working, supervising, and communicating effectively with school students including supporting students with special needs.
Demonstrate a broad knowledge of a range of inclusive and supportive behaviour techniques to positively contribute to student learning and wellbeing.
Excellent interpersonal skills to contribute to positive interactions within the school community.
A Certificate IV in Education Support (or equivalent) and/or relevant demonstrated knowledge and experience in a comparable role.
Prior experience working in an education environment is highly desirable.
strong organisational skills and a commitment to excellence in supporting teaching and learning
Experience working with children, including children with additional needs, is desirable but not essential.
