The bare roots of the job...
We're looking for an experienced and motivatedSenior Maintenance Coordinatorto join the leadership team atSurrey Hills Mill.
Reporting directly to the Site Manager, this is a senior leadership role that serves as the site's maintenance lead and trusted second-in-command.
You will play a critical role in supporting the day-to-day leadership of the operation, helping to drive site performance, build team capability and foster a strong safety and people-first culture across all shifts.
This role is about far more than coordinating maintenance activities.
It's about providing visible leadership, developing a high-performing maintenance team, ensuring asset reliability and creating the systems, plans and disciplines that keep a complex industrial operation running safely and efficiently.
Working closely with operations, contractors and external stakeholders, you'll lead maintenance planning, preventative maintenance programs, shutdown activities, capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives that support the long-term performance of the mill.
What you will be branching into...
In this influential leadership role, you will:
Lead, mentor and develop the site's maintenance team, building capability, accountability and a strong one-team culture




Act as a key member of the site leadership team and provide leadership support and cover for the Site Manager as required
Champion Forico's "work safe, home safe" culture through visible safety leadership and a proactive approach to risk management
Drive maintenance planning, scheduling and execution to maximise asset reliability and plant availability
Lead preventative maintenance programs and ensure maintenance systems, records and schedules are effectively managed
Coordinate maintenance shutdowns and major works while balancing production requirements and minimising downtime
Oversee maintenance budgeting, operating expenditure and capital works projects
Identify asset improvement opportunities and contribute to future capital investment planning
Manage critical spares, contractor performance and supplier relationships to support operational success
Work collaboratively with production and site leadership teams to deliver operational and business objectives
Lead continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, reliability, efficiency and cost performance
Ensure the site's maintenance activities remain compliant with relevant safety, environmental and regulatory requirements

We're seeking a capable and engaging maintenance leader who is equally comfortable working on strategic improvements as they are supporting day-to-day operational requirements.
This role will suit someone who genuinely enjoys leading people and understands that strong teams don't happen by accident.
You'll bring:
Demonstrated experience leading maintenance teams within manufacturing, processing, industrial, forestry, mining, energy or similar operational environments
A mechanical or electrical trade qualification
Strong leadership capability with a genuine passion for developing people and building high-performing teams




Experience with maintenance planning, preventative maintenance systems and asset reliability programs
Exposure to capital project delivery, contractor management and maintenance budgeting
A collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence, coach and build trust across all levels of the business
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on continuous improvement
Experience working with maintenance management systems and digital maintenance records
Well-developed communication skills and a consultative approach
A strong commitment to safety leadership and operational excellence
A current Australian Driver's Licence
Tertiary qualifications in engineering, management or a related discipline will be highly regarded, but are not essential.
