Job Title:Environmental Health Officer
Location:Local Council
Employment Type:Casual (38hrs a week, with potential for full-time permanent positions)
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer to provide short-term support in delivering essential environmental health services.
This contract role will involve conducting statutory inspections, investigating public health matters, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation to protect and promote community health.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct statutory inspections of registered businesses in accordance with relevant legislation.
Investigate environmental health complaints and public health nuisances.
Assist with legislative reporting, compliance activities and Food Act requirements.
Assess and inspect onsite wastewater (septic) systems and land capability for developments.
Monitor and respond to infectious disease and other public health matters.
Prepare reports, maintain accurate records and support regulatory enforcement activities where required.
Provide skilled environmental health advice to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Requirements:
Relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Health.




Current Victorian Driver Licence.
Demonstrated experience working as an Environmental Health Officer within Victorian local government.
Strong knowledge of environmental health legislation, regulations and compliance practices.
Excellent communication, investigation and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
