One of the referees should be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to the applicant's background, knowledge, skills and experience as they relate to the cultural capabilities.As Indigenous Service Support Officer, you will specifically:Assist and support youth justice staff and relevant community stakeholders in culturally appropriate assessment, case planning and programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families in accordance with relevant legislative provisions, statutory delegations, departmental policies, procedures, and contemporary best practice.Implement culturally appropriate individualised case plans in collaboration with Case Managers, negotiating with service providers, and linking clients to the services/supports they require (including formal and informal services, government, and non-government agencies).
Consult and effectively work with relevant stakeholders including families, elders, other key community members,



community agencies and government departments to enhance the capacity of these stakeholders to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families subject to youth justice orders and their families.Undertake a range of record and information management tasks including maintenance of case notes and records, preparation of reports and performance reporting.Participate productively and collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team involving a range of internal and external stakeholders and service providers to achieve quality casework outcomes.Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act **** and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.Role specific/technical skills:You understand the impacts of historical and contemporary policy and practices upon Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
You have a demonstrated ability to engage and communicate effectively, and with humility, with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.Experience in working with high-risk young people and families with complex needs or similar transferrable experience.Applications to remain current for 12 months.This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia License.
