We're hiring a Design & Technical Manager to lead our design studio and own the technical link to the factory.
Your job is to make the product buildable and keep the factory building to the right, current, approved information.
You'll lead our design director and the studio, and report directly to me.
What you'll do
Lead the design studio — drive it to produce buildable, standardised, factory-optimised modules, not just valuable-looking ones.
Own design-for-manufacture: close the gap between design intent and factory reality.
Own the document interface to the factory — the controlled gate that makes sure the right, current, approved drawings and specs are what the factory builds from.
Hold design cost and buildability, and feed accurate information into estimating.
Set and hold the technical standard across the design function.
What we need from you
You've led a design or technical function in modular, prefab, volumetric or industrialised building — or you're a strong technical designer/manager ready to step up and lead one.
Real design-for-manufacture instinct — you think about how a thing gets built in a factory, not just how it looks.
Strong on documentation and technical control — you keep drawings, revisions and specs tight and current.
Comfortable leading people and holding a standard.
Happy in a lean business where decisions get made fast.
Handy to have
Architecture, building design or engineering background.
Experience with a factory / offshore manufacturing supply chain (occasional China travel is part of this role, not the core of it).
Document-control or QA systems experience.
