We are seeking an experienced Cook to join our friendly kitchen team on Tasmania's spectacular West Coast.
You will work as part of an established team, confidently running your own shifts and sharing the kitchen workload, while reporting to the Venue Manager.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook meals to the venue's established recipes, menus and presentation standards.
Confidently manage your own kitchen shift, including preparation, service and closing duties.
Work cooperatively with other cooks and venue staff to ensure smooth and efficient service.
Maintain consistently high standards of food quality, presentation and portion control.
Assist with stock rotation, ordering, inventory control and minimising waste as required.
Maintain a clean, organised and food-safe kitchen.
Follow all workplace health and safety, food safety and hygiene requirements.
Communicate openly with the Venue Manager regarding stock, maintenance, staffing or operational matters.
Qualifications and Experience:
Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent qualification, is preferred.
Experienced cooks without formal qualifications will also be considered where they can demonstrate robust practical cooking skills.
Food safety accreditation, including SITXFSA005 and SITXFSA006, is preferred; however, we can assist the right candidate to obtain this.
At least three years' experience in a similar kitchen role is preferred.
The ability to confidently work independently and run your own shift.
Strong organisational and time-management skills, particularly during busy service periods.
A reliable, practical and team-focused approach.
Good communication skills and the ability to work respectfully within a supportive team.
Location and Relocation:
We strongly support local employment; however, due to ongoing skills shortages within our industry and region, we also encourage applications from experienced cooks willing to relocate to Tasmania's remote West Coast.
