Operations Team Lead
EarthLight – Forrestdale, WA
Why Work At EarthLight
At EarthLight, we back people who take ownership, think beyond the obvious, support the team around them, and hold a high bar for how they operate.
We are on a mission to Illuminate Better – improving how site lighting is delivered across mining and civil – and this role is an opportunity to lead the team that builds and delivers our product as we grow.
About Us
EarthLight supplies solar lighting solutions into mining, civil, and construction.
We are a solar first site lighting specialist, helping customers move away from diesel and design better lighting outcomes for real conditions.
We are entering our next phase of growth and building a stronger, more disciplined operations engine to support it.
The Role
This role is about running the floor, building a strong team, and steadily improving how we work.
You will be the direct people manager of our ~10-person operations team across Production/Warehouse, Purchasing, and Service – running daily huddles, safety meetings, and regular one-on-ones.
This is not a perfect environment with everything built already.
The role comes with desk time – scheduling, data, stock forecasts, supplier meetings – but you will need a bias for getting your hands dirty, and a bias for improving things and driving efficiency.
As the business grows, there is scope for the role to expand into Engineering/R&D;, a future Queensland operations presence, and standing up production of new product lines.
Key Responsibilities
Directly manage the operations team across Production/Warehouse, Service, and Purchasing
Run daily huddles in Production/Warehouse and lead regular safety meetings
Hold monthly one-on-one conversations with every team member
Oversee daily manufacturing and warehouse workflow to hit build and dispatch schedules
Own DIFOT, production output, and production efficiency
Manage purchasing so stock always supports the production schedule
Lead the Service Lead and Service Techs across service work and fieldwork
Drive process improvements, efficiency gains, and cost control
Develop and maintain SOPs, lifting quality and reducing rework
About You
You are a hands-on leader with a bias for getting your hands dirty, even with some desk time in the office – and a bias for improving things and driving efficiency.
You will likely be:
A supervisor, leading hand, or team leader in manufacturing or production, ready to own the whole floor
An operations or workshop supervisor who leads from the front
Someone frustrated by poor systems and wanting to improve them
What matters:
You have led a team in a workshop, production, warehouse, or field service environment
You have improved something, whether that is a process, efficiency, or quality outcome
You run positive rhythms: huddles, safety meetings, and one-on-ones
You take safety seriously and lead it by example
You are comfortable in a growing and evolving workplace
You hold standards, coach well, and drive performance
What Success Looks Like in 6 to 12 Months
DIFOT is on target and production output meets plan
Daily huddles, safety meetings, and one-on-ones are happening consistently
No production stoppages due to stock-outs
Service jobs are completed on time, to standard, safely
Quality is improving and rework is reducing
The team is engaged, accountable, and improving
The floor runs well without the GM needing to step in
Experience
5 plus years in manufacturing, production, warehouse, or field service operations
2 plus years leading people
Hands-on background – trade qualification or equivalent experience
Highly regarded:
Mining, civil, industrial, or capital equipment environments
Experience with production scheduling and inventory systems; forklift licence
Package
~$140K salary, plus super, plus company phone & laptop
Team-based bonus scheme
Full-time role, based in Forrestdale, WA
