Cellar Door Manager
A bit about you and the role:
We're wanting to welcome a Cellar Door Manager with a passion for wine and driven to lead a small team to be their best professional selves and achieve the business goals by offering personalised and exceptional food and wine experiences for our guests.
As the Cellar Door Manager, you are responsible for the daily operation, development, and refinement of the Maxwell Cellar Door experiences, in line with the strategic direction of the business, working closely with the acclaimed Maxwell Restaurant team to deliver a seamless food and wine experience.
Your core responsibilities focus on delivering industry-leading customer service, driving sales and wine club recruitment, and recruiting, training, and developing a highly proficient Cellar Door team and role modelling the leadership behaviours that create a high performing, engaged culture.

By being an effective leader, you will optimise the cellar door sales team as well as support the restaurant team to achieve our sales and club recruitment goals.
As a natural for developing relationships, you will build strong relationships with our existing members who frequent the cellar door and restaurant along with establishing a quick rapport with first time visitors and other VIP guests.
The role can be FT or Part Time to allow some flexibility to suit the work/life requirements of the successful applicant.
The role is based in McLaren Vale.
A bit about us:
Maxwell Wines, Est ****, is a family-owned and operated business.
A **** Halliday Wine Companion 5 Star Winery, It's made up of an award-winning cellar door & fine dining restaurant.
All the wine production is done onsite with the winery viewable from the tasting room.
The winery and offices are surrounded by the estate vineyards.
The winery and vineyards are 'certified' sustainable, and the business is pushing towards carbon neutrality.
The Maxwell team has established a reputation over many years for offering exceptional food and wine experiences that go beyond the cellar door.
Recently we were the Global Winner of the best of wine tourism awards by Outstanding Wine Capitals held in Bordeaux.
Awarded South Australia's **** restaurant of the year by Gourmet Traveller & currently hold 4 hats in the Australia Good Food Guide
With all these elements, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to utilise these experiences as tools to help showcase the brand and foster relationships with new and existing clients, especially our highly engaged wine club members.

MUST HAVES:
- Proven record of success in sales management and team-leading within the wine industry or related field.
- Excellent knowledge of the Australian wine industry, including key players in the tourism industry, familiar with tourism distribution channels, and market dynamics.
- Desire to keep up with best practices and competitive landscape
- Ability to present to consumer audiences as a brand ambassador
- Ability to work at least one day on the weekend
- Applicants must have Australian citizenship/residency or a valid Australian work visa.
NICE TO HAVES (one or combination of the below):
- Project or event management experience: keep internal projects and sales activities, and external resources on time and on budget
- Tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, Marketing or a related discipline are desirable.
- Knowledge of the certain international wine markets, including key players, distribution channels, and market dynamics.
- Email marketing / Wine club management
- WSET level 2 or 3 or Diploma.
A competitive salary, relative to experience and agreed standard days, along with a wine allowance and other benefits will be offered to the right candidate.
This role is very important to the growth of the Maxwell business and maintaining relationships with our valuable wine club members.
With exposure to many aspects of the day to day operations and the strategic direction, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow and develop with the business.
