We are run by Aboriginal people for Aboriginal people and work to provide culturally appropriate health, aged care and general support services in regional and remote communities, helping people to get home to country and family.
About the Role
The Maintenance Officer is responsible for completing the maintenance works for Purple House infrastructure, grounds and assisting fleet management.
Staff at this level may also supervises other maintenance staff including planning and coordinating tasks, monitoring attendance and workflow,
and reporting outcomes/incidents as needed.
Key responsibilities
Undertake a broad range of general maintenance tasks, both reactive and planned, which may include maintenance, inspections, and repair of buildings and other Purple House assets.
Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with agreed schedules across Purple House facilities in Alice Springs and remote locations.
Complete maintenance and fleet tasks as assigned by the managers and coordinator in the team.
Use the data management systems provided to report property maintenance, inspections, registrations, tracking and repairs of fleet and property assets.
Organise servicing, repairs, maintenance, and calibration of vehicles and equipment as required and in a timely manner to ensure the smooth the running of the organisation.
Prioritise workload using resources appropriately and cost effectively wherever possible.




Promote a safe work environment in accordance with legislative requirements, adheres to Work Health Safety guidelines, and reports all incidents and near misses.
Perform specific maintenance activities (once trained) which require certification, such as Tag and Test and fire extinguisher training.
Other duties as required, within level and trained capacity.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Essential
Demonstrated experience in vehicle and property maintenance.
Ability to work independently and manage, plan, and organise one's own work managing multiple deadlines.
Competent manual skills in various building trades and competency to safely use and maintain hand tools, power tools, and garden equipment.
Knowledge of basic building construction methods and building materials.
Physical capacity to perform a wide range of manual tasks.
Demonstrated good customer service and cross-cultural communication skills.
Hold or be willing to acquire training certifications including, construction industry white card, working with heights, tag and test certificate and other relevant tickets.
Ability to work safely with a range of tools and equipment.




Current C class Drivers Licence
Current NT Working with Children Check
Highly Desirable
Relevant Trade/Building qualifications or equivalent building trade experience.
Heavy Vehicle Licence (MR class or higher or willing to obtain)
4WD/off road driving experience.
You have experience working for an Aboriginal organisation and awareness of the issues pertaining to this region.
