About Youth Off The Streets
Youth Off The Streets is a not‐for‐profit organisation supporting young people to build safer, healthier futures.
For 30 years, our special assistance schools have provided adaptable education for students who don't thrive in mainstream settings.
Established in ****, Craig Davis College is a coeducational specialist school supporting students in Years 9–12.
Our school programs aim to empower young people with learning strategies to make informed decisions towards creating a positive future.
We are looking for a Student Support Youth Worker to join our school in Wollongong on a 12-month maximum term fulltime basis.
What You Will Do:
Advising students on matters relating to educational and individual needs.
Encouraging the involvement of parents/carers in school programs and their participation in forums, school activities and decision-making.
Actively engage in extra curricula activities including excursions, camps, Service Learning activities, sport and presentation night etc.
Creating, advising and facilitating pathways through school to further training and employment
Facilitating appropriate programs to develop cultural identity and confidence for all students within the school community
Requirements:
Minimum Certificate IV qualification in Youth Work, Community Services or Certificate IV School-based Education Support
Experience working in the youth sector and/or education setting
Demonstrated networking ability with knowledge of community development issues
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating confidence in engaging young people
Ability to build supportive relationships with students and families within the school
Ability to provide individual guidance and assistance to student in the classroom setting
Understanding of adolescent development, drug use and behaviour
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the principles that underpin a child safe organisation including mandatory child protection procedures
Valid Working with Children Check.
National Criminal History Check.
Full Australian working rights.
A current Australian driver's licence is required, as the role requires the transport of students.
