First Support Australia is seeking reliable, patient and compassionate Disability Support Workers to join the care team of an NDIS participant living in Delacombe, Ballarat.
The participant attends a specialist school and requires consistent, person-centred support with personal care, daily living activities, mobility, communication, structured routines, sensory regulation, community access and play-based engagement.
The participant receives rostered support across mornings, afternoons, evenings and inactive overnight shifts.
Support must be provided in accordance with the participant's individual needs, established routines and Behaviour Support Plan.
Available shifts
Regular availability for one or more of the following shifts is preferred.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday
6:00 am–9:00 am
3:45 pm–10:00 pm
10:00 pm–6:00 am inactive overnight shift
Thursday, Saturday and Sunday
6:00 am–2:00 pm
2:00 pm–10:00 pm
10:00 pm–6:00 am inactive overnight shift
Applicants do not need to be available for every shift.
However, candidates who can provide regular and consistent availability across multiple shifts may be prioritised.
Key responsibilities
Providing respectful personal care, showering and hygiene assistance
Supporting meals, daily living activities and established routines
Providing mobility assistance, including the use of mobility equipment
Supporting a non-speaking participant using visual supports or communication devices
Facilitating community access and meaningful play-based activities
Supporting sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing
Following the participant's Behaviour Support Plan and structured support strategies
Using calm, patient, low-arousal and person-centred approaches
Recognising and responding appropriately to behaviours of concern
Providing active supervision and maintaining a safe workplace
Completing accurate progress notes, behavioural documentation and incident reports
Communicating professionally with the participant's family,

Essential requirements
Applicants must have or be willing to obtain:
Valid Australian working rights
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Working with Children Check
National Police Check
Current First Aid and CPR qualifications
Current driver's licence and reliable transport
Ability to complete mandatory induction and participant-specific training
Willingness to complete Behaviour Support Plan training
Availability to work a flexible casual roster, including mornings, evenings, weekends and inactive overnight shifts
Skills and experience
Previous experience in one or more of the following areas is highly regarded:
Autism and sensory regulation
Intellectual disability or cerebral palsy
Positive Behaviour Support and behaviours of concern
Supporting non-speaking participants
Visual communication systems or communication devices
Personal care and mobility assistance
Following Behaviour Support Plans and structured routines
Completing progress notes and behavioural documentation
The successful applicant will be dependable, observant and committed to providing consistent support.
You must be able to follow established instructions, work collaboratively with the participant's broader support team and maintain professional boundaries.
