The Role
Are you an experienced Youth FDV Counsellor looking to make an impact in the lives of young people?
If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you in our Open Space program!
As the Youth FDV Counsellor you will provide therapeutic support services, psychological assessments, counselling, group work and case management approaches to improve outcomes for young people at risk of or exposed to family and domestic violence.
This is a fixed‐term full‐time role until 30 June ****, working 76 hours a fortnight, and is located in Rockingham.
About You
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as Psychology, Counselling or Social Work
Registration with the AHPRA Psychology Board of Australia, Australian Counselling Association (ACA) or Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA)
Relevant experience and understanding of family and domestic violence with young people, trauma‐informed practice and child development
Understanding of self‐care and vicarious trauma management
Ability to develop rapport and therapeutic alliance, be non‐judgmental and provide high‐level counselling, case management and assessment
Ability to apply knowledge of developmental and psychosocial issues to assess clients and refer effectively when needed
Knowledge of Family and Domestic Violence and working with Family Safety




Knowledge of relevant theoretical approaches for working with young people and families
Strong culturally safe practice to ensure the cultural safety of clients, including those from Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, CALD and LGBTIQA+ backgrounds
Satisfactory Police clearance (not older than 6 months from the issue date)
Unrestricted driver's licence
