As the Team Leader Dubbo, you will lead a small team delivering culturally safe, responsive and community‐connected support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
You'll guide staff in embedding cultural practices, strengthening engagement, and ensuring programs reflect local community expectations, cultural knowledge and YOTS frameworks.
Your leadership will be culturally grounded, trauma‐informed and strengths‐based.
You'll build trust with community, support staff capability, and ensure young people feel safe, respected and empowered throughout their journey.
This role is based in Dubbo, with strong relationships across local Aboriginal communities, Elders, families and partner organisations.
What you'll do:Lead, support and supervise staff working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young peopleProvide coaching, guidance and performance feedback to build cultural capability and confidencePromote culturally appropriate, trauma‐informed and strengths‐based practiceSupport the design and delivery of culturally grounded programs and activitiesEnsure case planning and support reflect cultural identity,



community expectations and local knowledgeBuild strong relationships with Elders, families, community organisations and stakeholdersRepresent Youth Off The Streets at community meetings, interagency forums and cultural eventsStrengthen referral pathways and partnerships to improve outcomes for young peopleProvide cultural advice and support the embedding of cultural protocols across the teamOversee program operations, rostering, reporting and compliance requirementsEnsure accurate data collection, record keeping and reportingContribute to audits, continuous improvement and service qualitySupport budget monitoring, expenditure tracking and financial reportingIdentify risks, emerging issues and opportunities for program developmentUphold child‐safe practices and contribute to a culturally safe environmentPromote youth voice and participation in program development and community forumsMaintain strong professional relationships with internal teams and external partners
What you'll bring:Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander3–5 years' experience in a similar role within community services, youth work or related fieldsDemonstrated ability to support culturally secure and responsive servicesExperience supervising or supporting staff in community‐based programsStrong communication, advocacy and relationship‐building skillsAbility to work respectfully with diverse cultural backgrounds and community expectationsUnderstanding of trauma‐informed, developmentally‐informed and strengths‐based approachesExperience with reporting,



data collection and compliance requirementsGood organisational skills and ability to manage competing prioritiesAbility to respond calmly and therapeutically in crisis situationsCommitment to ongoing professional developmentCurrent NSW Driver Licence, Working With Children Check and Police CheckUnderstanding of child‐safe principles and cultural safety practices
