Per Week: 0 Requisition ID: REQ****** Applications are invited for appointment as a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) in the Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) Service for the Quinquennium period: 1 July **** to 30 June ****.
An eligibility list may be created for vacancies on an ongoing basis (following this advertisement).
The VMO will provide expert medical assessment and management of people requesting access to Voluntary Assisted Dying under the NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Act **** as part of the SESLHD VAD Liaison Service.
This role will be a part of a pool of specialists that will fulfil the Coordinating, Consulting and or Administering Practitioner roles within the VAD process.
Applicants seeking to participate in the Coordinating or Consulting role must be medical practitioners who have held specialist registration, or general registration and have practised in the medical profession for at least 10 years.
Applicants seeking to participate in the Administering Practitioner role must be medical practitioners who have held specialist registration, or general registration and have practised in the medical profession for at least 5 years.
Overseas trained specialist with limited or provisional registration are also encouraged to apply.
This is a Quinquennium appointment, however, is contingent on funding which may cease prior to 30 June ****.
Mandatory training will be required to fulfil these roles and will be supported by SESLHD.

The specialist will provide expert medical assessment and management of patients within the department-service.
The primary location of this position may be varied as agreed with the Director of Medical Services and as approved by MDAAC to other facilities in SESLHD.

MBBS or equivalent,



currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Applicants must have Fellowship of a recognised Australasian Specialist College or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia and-or practiced in the medical profession for at least 10 years as the holder of General Registration.

Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and professional development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education and continuing professional development.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team across multiple sites.
Demonstrated commitment to provision of a high standard of clinical care in the public sector setting.
