About the role
The Wounded Heroes Association Inc is seeking a talented and passionateShort Order Cookto join our hospitality team on afull-timebasis at our Veteran Centre in Hyde Park, QLD ****.
This is a pivotal role that required culinary skills, serving our community and supporting the vital mission of our organisation.
You will be at the heart of our hospitality operations, delivering exceptional food and beverage experiences to our guests whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality and service.
Key responsibilities
Preparing and cooking a variety of short order meals using proper food handling techniques and adhering to food safety standards
Managing food preparation stations and ensuring all cooking equipment is maintained in excellent working condition
Taking customer orders and ensuring accurate and timely delivery of meals and beverages
Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in kitchen area, including regular sanitisation of equipment
Monitoring food inventory levels and reporting stock requirements to management
Collaborating with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
Adapting to customer preferences and dietary requirements whilst maintaining consistency and quality
Supporting the broader hospitality team to create a welcoming and efficient service environment
What we're looking for
Proven experience as a Short Order Cook or in a similar fast-paced kitchen environment
Demonstrated experience as a Barista or in coffee preparation and service
Strong knowledge of food safety,



hygiene protocols and food handling best practices
Proficiency in operating commercial cooking equipment and espresso machines
Excellent time management and ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak service times
Outstanding customer service skills and a positive, professional attitude
Physical fitness and ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderately heavy items
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of presentation and quality
Flexibility to work varying shifts including mornings, afternoons and weekends as required
Current Food Handler's Certificate or willingness to obtain one
Relevant hospitality qualifications or certifications in cooking or barista skills would be advantageous
