MARINA MAINTENANCE OFFICER (Full Time)
Fremantle Sailing Club is looking for an experienced, and highly motivated person to join ourHarbour Operations team.
The Marina Maintenance Officer is a hands-on role responsible for the maintenance, repair, presentation, and operational readiness of marina infrastructure, clubhouse facilities, grounds, and associated assets.
Key Responsibilities
Asset Management and Maintenance Planning
Utilise and maintain the MYBUILDINGS Asset Register and Maintenance Management System.
Raise, manage, and complete maintenance work orders.
Record maintenance activities, inspections, and asset condition assessments.
Assist in developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs.
Monitor asset performance and identify maintenance and replacement requirements.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and compliance documentation.
Marine Infrastructure Maintenance
Conduct routine inspections and undertake repairs to:
Jetties
Piers
Finger extensions
Floating docks
Pilings
Gangways
Marina services and associated infrastructure
Identify defects and carry out remedial works to ensure infrastructure remains safe and operational.
Undertake timber, aluminium, and general marine infrastructure maintenance activities.
Assist with berth inspections and marina condition assessments.
Clubhouse and Facilities Maintenance
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance to clubhouse buildings and associated facilities.
Carry out general building maintenance including:
Carpentry
Painting
Minor plumbing repairs
Minor mechanical repairs
General handyman duties
Maintain amenities, storerooms, workshops, and common areas to a high standard.
Ensure facilities remain clean, functional, and well-presented.
Grounds Maintenance
Maintain marina grounds, pathways, fencing, landscaping, and surrounding facilities.
Monitor site presentation and rectify maintenance defects promptly.
Daily Operations
Plan and complete daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance activities.
Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner.
Manage maintenance priorities in consultation with the Facilities Manager.
Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance stores in good working order.
Capital Works and Contractor Support
Undertake approved maintenance and renewal works where appropriate.
Assist with marina capital works projects.
Work collaboratively with contractors engaged to deliver specialist maintenance and annual capital works programs.
Monitor contractor activities and ensure compliance with safety and site requirements.
Safety and Compliance
Conduct routine inspections and testing of site safety equipment.
Follow all Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Identify, report, and rectify hazards where appropriate.
Ensure work activities are completed safely and in accordance with relevant legislation and organisational requirements.
Participate in emergency response and safety activities as required.
Environmental Management
Assist in identifying and reporting environmental issues affecting marina operations.
Respond to minor environmental hazards and incidents.
Support environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives.
Customer Service
Provide skilled assistance to members, tenants, contractors, and visitors.
Respond to maintenance-related enquiries and requests.
Promote a positive image of the marina and club through high standards of workmanship and presentation.
Essential Requirements
Qualifications and Licences
Current Australian Driver's Licence.
Current First Aid Certificate.
Recreational Skipper's Ticket (RST) or willingness to obtain.
Construction Induction White Card (desirable).
Skills and Experience
Demonstrated experience in a hands-on maintenance role.
Practical experience in:
Carpentry
Painting
Basic plumbing
General building maintenance
Mechanical repairs and maintenance
Experience using maintenance management or asset management systems.
Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook,
and maintenance software applications.
Ability to interpret maintenance schedules, procedures, and work instructions.
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Desirable Requirements
Certificate III in Carpentry and Joinery.
Experience working in a marina, boating, marine, or waterfront environment.
Knowledge of marina operations and marine infrastructure.
Experience maintaining floating docks, pontoons, jetties, and marine assets.
Experience using MYBUILDINGS or similar Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Physical Requirements
Ability to undertake physically demanding maintenance work.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Comfortable working on floating structures and around water.
Ability to lift, carry, climb, bend, and perform manual handling tasks safely.
