We are looking for motivated and community-minded individuals who have a passion for emergency services and enjoy working in an outdoor-based physical role.
By joining our Mitigation Crews, you will have the opportunity to reduce the risk of fires occurring within your community.
You will have the opportunity to assist with the AIDER Program, hazard reduction activities, and support operations during emergency response.
We are recruiting to a number of Mitigation Crew Member and Leader positions across the South Eastern Area Command, with positions available in Batemans Bay, Bega, Cooma and Tumut.
This opportunity offers:
Full-time ongoing employment & 35 hour working week
Attractive annual salary:
RFS Level 1 Mitigation Crew Member: $69,735 - $74,923 p.a. plus 12% superannuation
RFS Level 2/3 Mitigation Crew Leader: $79,051 - $85,938 p.a. plus 12% superannuation
One 'Agreed Absence' leave day per calendar month in recognition of the hours worked and professional commitment to the organisation
Mandatory paid induction program upon commencement (may be required to travel and stay at the training facility during specific periods)
Talent pools for South Eastern Area Command roles (only) will be created to fill future ongoing or temporary opportunities over the next 18 months

Essential requirements you will need to join our crews:
Mitigation Crew Member
A current Driver's Licence, Class Provisional P1 or above
A level of physical fitness appropriate for arduous bush firefighting or similar intense and sustained physical activity
Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout NSW
The RFS will support you to obtain the following qualifications during the Mitigation Crew Induction Program:
RFS Bush Firefighter (BF) Qualification
First Aid Qualification
Mitigation Crew Leader
RFS Crew Leader (CLW and/or CLS) Certification or its equivalent
A current Class Medium Rigid (MR) Driver's Licence
A level of physical fitness appropriate for arduous bush firefighting or similar intense and sustained physical activity
First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout NSW

The commencing salary will be considered in alignment with skills and experience.

Applicants that progress from capability assessments will be required to undergo a medical assessment through the RFS-approved medical provider (medical costs will be covered by the RFS)
Applicants should commence training for the physical assessment as soon as possible.

Successful applicants will be required to attend a paid Induction Program.
It is anticipated that this will occur from November ****.
