Full Time Yard Hand – GKR Transport | Welshpool
GKR Transport is looking for a reliable, hard working Yard Hand to join our busy Welshpool depot.
This is a hands on, physical role where attitude, effort and willingness to learn are just as important as experience.
You don't need to have a transport background to be considered.
Previous experience in transport, logistics, freight, yard work or manual labour will be highly regarded, but what matters most is that you are reliable, safety focused, willing to learn and ready to get stuck in.
This is not a sit down job.
You'll be on your feet, working around the depot, moving pallets, handling straps and chains, opening and closing curtains, folding tarps, moving gates, cleaning the yard, and supporting drivers and operations throughout the day.
The yard is fast-paced and high volume, so we need someone who is switched on, follows instructions, asks questions, works safely and takes pride in doing the job properly.
Early starts and long shifts are part of the role, and we often work over 12 hours to make sure our linehaul and lcoal trucks are loaded and ready to hit the road.
Pay Rate: $***** per hour, with a flat rate up to 50 hours.
Super is paid on all hours up to 50 hours.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Yard Hand at GKR Transport, your role will be hands-on and varied, including:
General labouring tasks around the yard
Opening and closing tautliner curtains
Moving truck gates
Strapping and restraining freight safely and efficiently
Folding, moving, and undoing tarps
Restacking and sorting pallets
Moving chains and other freight equipment
Cleaning the yard, including sweeping, rubbish removal, and general maintenance
Ensuring the yard is clean, organised, and hazard free at all times
Supporting drivers and operations staff as required
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who:
Has a great attitude and is willing to learn
Is reliable, hard working and ready to get stuck into physical work




Can follow instructions and work safely in a busy depot environment
Is physically fit and comfortable working on their feet
Takes pride in doing the job properly
Works well as part of a team
Has transport, logistics, freight, yard or manual labour experience — preferred but not essential
Has a forklift licence, or is willing to obtain one — advantageous but not essential
Is willing to complete a pre employment medical and police check, including drug and alcohol testing
