Experienced Veterinary Nurse | Use Your Skills.
Grow Your Career.
Make an Impact.
You didn't become a Veterinary Nurse just to stand on the sidelines.
You trained to monitor anaesthetics, care for complex patients, support worried families, solve problems, contribute to cases and make a genuine difference.
At Tasmanian Veterinary Hospitals, that is exactly what we want you to do.
We are growing and looking for experienced Veterinary Nurses who want more from their next role—more chance to use their clinical skills, greater involvement in patient care, genuine support to develop and a workplace where nurses are respected as essential members of the clinical team.
Why Tasmanian Veterinary Hospitals?
We are a locally owned Tasmanian Veterinary Organisation with hospitals across Bellerive, Mornington, Sorell and Kingston.
Our purpose is to promote, support and enhance the relationship between people and their pets, and we achieve this by investing in our people, facilities, technology and standards of care.
You will work alongside experienced veterinarians, qualified nurses, Hospital Supervisors and dedicated support teams who share a commitment to delivering exceptional patient and client care.
We work hard, support one another, share knowledge and still find plenty of reasons to laugh along the way.
This Is Nursing With Real Responsibility
At TVH, our nurses are not simply there to assist the veterinarian.
You will be trusted to use your knowledge, judgement and full nursing skill set while taking an active role throughout each patient's journey.
Your role will include:
· Surgical nursing and advanced anaesthetic monitoring
· Caring for hospitalised, critical and complex patients
· Patient admissions, discharges and treatment planning
· IV catheter placement, blood collection and laboratory procedures
· Diagnostic imaging and dental procedures
· Nurse consultations and client education
· Supporting emergency presentations and patient stabilisation
· Mentoring developing Nurses and Nurse Assistants
· Contributing ideas that improve our hospitals and patient outcomes
You will also have the opportunity to strengthen your clinical skills, develop areas of interest and grow into greater mentoring or leadership responsibilities as your career progresses.
Modern Hospitals.
Progressive Care.
At TVH, we continue to invest in advanced equipment, technology and hospital spaces that support our teams to deliver a high standard of veterinary care.
Our nurses work with modern surgical, diagnostic imaging, anaesthetic monitoring, dental and in-house laboratory equipment, supported by dedicated treatment areas and hospital wards designed around patient comfort, safety and recovery.
We are always moving forward—embracing new technology, refining how we work and giving our teams the tools and support they need to provide exceptional care.
What We're Looking For
You will ideally have:
· A Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, or equivalent experience
· Experience working within a busy veterinary hospital environment
· Confidence in anaesthesia, surgical nursing and patient care
· Strong communication and organisational skills
· Initiative and the ability to think ahead
· A calm and compassionate approach with patients and clients
· A collaborative, team-first mindset
· A current driver's licence and reliable transport
Most importantly, you will take pride in your work, care deeply about your patients and want to be part of a team that values your contribution.
What You'll Receive
· A $600 annual professional development allowance
· Generous staff discounts
· An annual pet-care allowance
· Access to modern equipment and progressive veterinary technology
· Mentorship from experienced veterinarians and qualified nurses
· Clinical, mentoring and leadership development supported by our dedicated Training Manager
· Access to our Employee Assistance Program
· On-site parking
· Career opportunities across a growing Tasmanian veterinary organisation
