Pathways Tasmania is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee the financial function of our organisation, reporting directly to the CEO and playing a key role in supporting the programs that make a real difference across our community.
About Us
Pathways Tasmania Ltd is a registered charity with Christian faith-based values and culture, working across Tasmania to provide housing for homeless youth and young adults, rehabilitation services for those with life-controlling addictions, and NDIS-funded support for neurodiverse young people.
We receive both government and private funding and rely heavily on the financial goodwill of the wider Tasmanian community.
We manage three distinct program delivery services:
1. Launch Youth, a medium to long-term shelter for teenage boys and young men, based in Hobart.
2. Hobart Transformations, a residential therapeutic community drug and alcohol rehabilitation service operated under licence from Transformations Program Australia, and in partnership with Velocity Church in Hobart.
It caters for adult men and women.
3. Tessellate Support Services, which provides support to neurodiverse young people to help them live full and connected lives in the community.
About the Role
As our Finance Manager, you will oversee the finance function for the organisation, managing one direct report and providing timely, accurate financial reporting that supports sound decision-making at every level.
Your responsibilities will include:
Overseeing fortnightly payroll and managing pay rates in line with award and contract requirements
Manage and review the work completed by in-house accounts staff member
Preparing monthly finance reports and overseeing lodgement of monthly BAS




Ensuring compliance with superannuation obligations
Overseeing accounts receivable and payable
Preparing annual budgets in consultation with the finance committee
Preparing annual financial statements and arranging the annual audit
Assisting with annual ACNC reporting
Managing key suppliers in consultation with the CEO
Authorising expenditure within budgeted limits
Preparing financial reports for government and private grant-making bodies
Preparing financial models for new projects
This is a permanent part time role, with days and work hours to be negotiated.

About You
You are a qualified finance professional with a genuine appreciation for mission-driven work.
You bring technical rigour to your accounting and reporting, sound judgement to supplier and expenditure decisions, and the discretion needed to work with sensitive financial and organisational information.
You're equally comfortable working independently and collaborating with the CEO, finance committee, and program managers.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, a current unrestricted driver's licence, and at least 3 years' experience in a high-level business role are essential.
Progression towards or completion of CA/CPA and experience working within the charity sector are desirable but not required.
Experience using Xero, familiarity with the SCHADS Award,



and understanding of tax rules specific to the charity sector will be highly regarded.
Remuneration
Salary is in the range of $55 to $60 per hour depending on qualifications and experience, plus 12% Superannuation.
Salary Sacrifice arrangements are available with charity FBT exemptions.

Technical Accounting Skills -Technical skills in financial and management accounting, with high-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
