An exciting opportunity exists for a Staff Specialist in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine to join the Department of Medicine at Mackay Base Hospital on a permanent full-time basis.
This position offers the chance to practise high-quality specialist respiratory medicine within a modern regional referral hospital, while enjoying an outstanding lifestyle in tropical Queensland.
You will join a team-oriented physician group delivering comprehensive specialist services across a large and diverse regional population.

The Opportunity As a Staff Specialist in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, you will provide contemporary specialist services across inpatient, outpatient, consultative and procedural settings throughout the Mackay Hospital and Health Service.
Key Responsibilities
Providing specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of respiratory and sleep disorders
Delivering inpatient and outpatient respiratory services
Providing consultative support to medical, surgical and emergency departments
Performing respiratory procedures, including bronchoscopy and other scope-of-practice interventions
Supporting timely patient flow and hospital-wide clinical outcomes
Participating in multidisciplinary care planning and complex case management
Contributing to the development and expansion of respiratory and sleep medicine services
Supporting outreach and innovative models of care across the region
Participating in teaching, training, audit and quality improvement activities
You will work closely with the Clinical Director and physician colleagues to support strategic service growth and clinical excellence.

Requirements Applicants Should Possess
Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, or equivalent specialist qualification
Specialist Registration with AHPRA, or eligibility for registration
Expertise in respiratory medicine and bronchoscopy
Commitment to multidisciplinary, patient-centred care
Strong communication, teaching and leadership skills
