The role
Reporting to the Head of Finance and working closely with the Financial Controller, you'll be the analytical engine behind how Big River Pork understands its cost and margin performance.
You'll pair the technical depth to interrogate operational data independently with the commercial judgement to turn it into clear recommendations for senior decision-makers - working closely with operations, production and supply chain to understand what drives cost and performance.
You will:
Develop and refine margin analysis by customer and by department
Own cost accounting processes: inventory valuation and tracking, and variance analysis across labour, yield and overheads
Independently source and interrogate data from across the business, operating as a self-sufficient analytical resource
Develop and enhance our Power BI dashboards and reporting to support financial and operational performance
Provide regular reporting and clear commentary on key KPIs and operational drivers - identifying trends and anomalies and turning them into actionable recommendations
Support budgeting, forecasting and planning, with a focus on operational metrics
Safeguard the accuracy and integrity of financial and operational data
Identify and drive continuous-improvement initiatives across finance and operations
Support the wider finance team at month-end and on key projects as required
About you
Essential
CA or CPA qualified
Proven cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, with genuine depth in inventory and margin analysis




Strong Power BI capability; able to build and maintain robust data models
Highly analytical and data-driven, with sharp attention to detail
Able to work independently and structure your own analysis with minimal direction
A clear communicator who can translate analysis into a narrative and work directly with operational and production teams
Commercial mindset and a proactive, problem-solving approach
Comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment
