We're at the stage where our CFO needs a strong finance partner to build, embed and manage the analytical and reporting infrastructure that supports confident decision-making as we scale.
We're looking for a Senior Accountant – Finance, Strategy & Planning which is a hybrid role — part Financial Accountant, part Management Accountant, part FP&A; partner — someone commercially curious, technically strong, and comfortable building and improving things that don't fully exist yet.

The role
Reporting to the CFO, this role works on the numbers that drive strategy - the monthly board pack, the budget, the cash flow model, the cost allocation methodology, and the quality of our external reporting.
Your key areas of accountability:
Financial Accounting
• Manage the month-end and year-end ledger close, Balance sheet and accounts consolidation process.




• Develop accounting policy positions and key supporting papers for the external audit, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors.
• Work with the CFO to manage Company Tax obligations.
• Support management of the share registry.
Management Accounting & Financial Planning
• Partner with the CFO and Finance Manager to build and embed best-practice financial controls and champion process improvements across the finance function, including adoption of new technologies and automation
• Manage the preparation of the monthly reporting pack for Management and Board.
• Work with the CFO to build and refine the absorption costing allocation process for each audit and client — a key capability as ASF grows its unit economics discipline.
• Partner with the CFO and business leaders (Audit Operations, Sales, IT) to build and embed analysis that supports operational decision-making — particularly transformational change agendas to support exceptional growth.
• Drive the annual budgeting process in close partnership with the CFO and own the cash flow model — driving quarterly forecasting and ongoing monthly cash flow management.
Risk, Compliance & Controls
• Support Risk Management and ASQM1 compliance requirements, working with the CFO and broader leadership on financial risk identification and mitigation.
• Ensure internal controls are documented, operating effectively, and continuously improved.
What success looks like
• The monthly Board and Management reporting pack is produced accurately and on time every month — enabling quicker decisions rather than more discussion.
• The CFO has a finance partner he can rely on to own the numbers, not just report them.
• An absorption costing model is built, tested and in active use within six months.




• Cash flow forecasting is proactive — the business is never surprised by its liquidity position.
• Year-end external audit runs smoothly, with no material issues identified.
• Financial controls are documented and consistently applied.
• Process and service design improvements mean the finance team does more with the same or fewer manual steps.
• Strong collaboration with business leaders ensures the right services reach the right areas of ASF.
To be successful in this role you will need
• CA or CPA qualified, or nearing completion.
• 5+ years in a financial accounting or management accounting role, ideally with exposure to both or relevant experience in a professional firm.
• Solid financial modelling skills — cash flow forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis.
• Advanced Excel; Power BI or equivalent data visualisation experience highly regarded.
• Xero experience helpful but not required — willingness to learn is.
• Comfortable working directly with a CFO and presenting financial analysis to senior leaders, with solid listening and communication skills.
• A process and service improvement mindset — always looking for better ways, not just compliance with existing ones.
• Professional services or multi-entity experience is an advantage.
• Adelaide-based or willing to relocate — this is an in-office role with flexibility.
