Based at the Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre (AFAC)

At AFAC, you won't just supervise equipment.
You'll support people at every stage of their fitness journey, helping them feel welcome, capable, and proud of what they can achieve.
About the Role
As a Gym Instructor, you'll be one of the friendly faces members rely on.
You'll help create a space where people feel safe, supported, and motivated to keep showing up.
Your day could include anything from helping someone perfect their squat technique to writing a personalised program or running a small group session.
You'll also play an important role in keeping the gym clean, safe, and running smoothly.
You will:
Welcome members and offer friendly, helpful support
Conduct fitness assessments and create tailored programs
Run small group training sessions for different abilities
Supervise the gym floor and keep everyone safe
Respond to first aid or emergencies when needed
Promote AFAC programs and services
Support member retention through positive engagement
Keep the gym clean, tidy, and compliant
Report equipment issues and follow WHS procedures
Take part in training and ongoing development
Shifts range from 2–5 hours and include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
To stay connected with the team and members, we ask for a minimum of three shifts per week.

About You
You're someone who loves being around people and thrives in a busy, positive environment.
You bring a mix of fitness knowledge, great communication, and a genuine desire to help others succeed.
To this role, you bring:
Certificate IV in Health and Fitness (or equivalent)
Current AUSactive Certificate
Current Provide First Aid certification
Experience supervising a gym, writing programs, and running small group sessions
Robust customer service and communication skills
Knowledge of fitness industry standards and safe work practices
Ability to work well in a supportive, diverse team
Working with Children Check
