What We Offer:
The position is a full-time position and will involve some travel throughout the lower Gulf of Carpentaria region:
Salary Range: ($117,260 - $129,662) per annum depending on qualifications and experience

The Opportunity:
Under the direction of the CEO, be responsible for the strategic leadership, professional development and management of the Land and Environment Unit,



actively seek out new funding and fee for service opportunities and engage with key stakeholders to continue the development of a sustainable land management business for the long-term benefit of the Traditional Owners and communities of the lower Gulf of Carpentaria.
As the Land and Environment Manager you will:
Actively pursue new and emerging opportunities that align with CLCAC's Strategic Plan and Transition Plans for the commencement of post-Determination service delivery, that build on current successes and further CLCAC's goal of being the leader of sustainable indigenous community development;
Develop long-term land and environment plans with a regional focus that prioritise the protection of culture and the lower Gulf of Carpentaria environment, whilst expanding the program and supporting self-sufficiency;
Actively seek out potential new partners, including government, research agencies, landholders and philanthropic organisations whose values and principles align with those of CLCAC;
Support and promote the use of Traditional knowledge combined with the best of available science;
Monitor progress against agreed project work plans and make timely adjustments when required to ensure all project outcomes are met;
Lead the development and negotiation of annual proposals, key deliverables, milestones and schedules for natural resource management projects;
Build and maintain strong relationships with Traditional Owners and other key stakeholders such as pastoralists, local government and other agencies;
Create a culture of continuous improvement within the team, and support and build the capacity of Indigenous rangers to conduct best practice land and sea natural resource management and knowledge required in the team to meet programme needs;
Comply and monitor the relevant legislation and corporate policies, procedures and standards on health and safety at work; and
Participate as a member of CLCAC's Senior Management Team,



participate in decision-making and provide advice in relations to the Land and Environment Programme.
Essential Skills / Qualifications / Experience:
To be eligible for this role, you will have:
Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, Sustainable Land Management degree or equivalent tertiary qualification;
Effective and proactive communications skills; and experience in establishing and maintaining partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders, including, but not limited to Traditional Owners, government agencies and other key stakeholders;
Experience in managing large remote teams and work unit areas;
Experience in developing leadership and professional capabilities of team members;
Experience developing, implementing and assessing operational workplans;
Well-developed knowledge and experience of Indigenous land and sea management programmes;
High level writing skills and experience with preparing funding submissions and managing budgets;
Experience in writing reports and proposals to government and other funding bodies and project summary documents, including grant acquittals;
Experience in developing and delivering verbal presentations;
Desirable:
Knowledge of cultural heritage processes;
Previous experience coordinating two-way science projects;
Experience working with Indigenous land managers, rangers and/or IPAs; and
Knowledge of native title processes and varying land tenures.
