Mamu Health Service Limited (MHSL) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation committed to providing holistic, culturally safe, and community-driven services that strengthen the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We are seeking a motivated and dedicatedFamily Services Officer – Delegated Authorityto join our Family Services team.
About the Role
The Family Services Officer – Delegated Authority plays a vital role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, guardians, and communities.
Working under the Child Protection Act ****, this role involves delegated decision-making, case coordination, and advocacy to ensure the safety, wellbeing, and stability of children and families.
This role requires a compassionate and community-focused individual who can work collaboratively within a culturally diverse team setting while respecting and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander self-determination.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver case coordination and family service plans that promote safety, stability, and long-term wellbeing.
Work collaboratively with the Department of Child Safety and other key stakeholders.
Undertake culturally responsive client assessments, intake processes, and case reviews.
Support families and children with advocacy, access to services, and ongoing case work.
Engage respectfully with community, ensuring cultural authority and protocols guide service delivery.
Maintain accurate case notes, client data, and reporting in line with organisational requirements.
Selection Criteria




Demonstrated knowledge of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and communities, with the ability to work in a culturally safe, responsive, and empowering way that supports family wellbeing.
Demonstrated ability to provide case management, advocacy, and referral services to families, children, and young people within a child protection context.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to consult, negotiate, and engage effectively with clients, families, and key stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a culturally diverse team and independently with minimal supervision, showing initiative and accountability.
Positive computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft 365 environment and experience with other database systems.
Certificate in Community Services, Diploma of Counselling, or equivalent work experience.
