Jabalbina Yalanji Aboriginal Corporation is seeking an experiencedNRM Project Managerto lead the Eastern Kuku Yalanji Disaster Relief and Preparedness project.
In this fixed-term full-time role based in Mossman and surrounding areas, you will manage the project from planning through delivery, collaborating closely with Traditional Owners, Elders, local councils, emergency services, and community stakeholders.
Your leadership will be integral in developing culturally informed evacuation plans, coordinating community consultations, GIS mapping, and communication frameworks to enhance disaster resilience and preparedness.
Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing project milestones, budgets, and compliance with funding agreements.
Leading and supporting project staff, rangers, consultants, and contractors to achieve deliverables safely and effectively.
Engaging stakeholders through culturally appropriate consultation sessions and resilience activities across Bloomfield, Ayton, and Rossville.
Developing emergency communication plans, evacuation route mappings, and tools for household preparedness.
Monitoring and evaluating project outcomes and facilitating the transition of resources and protocols to relevant agencies for ongoing community benefit.




The ideal candidate will have a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in natural resource management or related fields, with a strong background in restoration or land management within Indigenous contexts.
You should possess excellent project management skills, be proficient in computer applications, and demonstrate a respectful, culturally aligned approach to community engagement.
Additional requirements include an open driver's license and the ability to obtain a Blue Card where necessary.
Familiarity with Aboriginal corporations or not-for-profit organisations is highly regarded.
