We connect apprentices with quality host businesses and provide ongoing mentoring, support, and training throughout their apprenticeship journey.
We are seeking a motivated and relationship-focused Group Training Field Officer to join our team servicing the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers region.
This is an autonomous and rewarding role where you'll work closely with apprentices, host employers, schools, training providers and industry stakeholders to support apprentice success while driving growth opportunities for HIA Apprentices.
About the RoleAs a Group Training Field Officer, you will be responsible for recruiting new host employers and apprentices, maintaining robust client relationships, providing mentoring and support services, and ensuring apprentices and hosts receive a high level of service throughout the apprenticeship journey.
You will spend much of your time working directly with apprentices and host businesses across the region, conducting site visits, providing guidance and counselling, undertaking workplace assessments, and identifying new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & RecruitmentIdentify and secure new host employer opportunities across the residential building industryRecruit quality apprentices to meet workforce and growth requirementsPromote HIA Apprentices to prospective host businesses and industry stakeholdersRepresent HIA Apprentices at trade nights, career expos,



school events and industry functions
Apprentice & Host SupportConduct regular field visits with apprentices and host employersProvide mentoring, coaching and support to apprentices throughout their employmentMonitor workplace performance and training progressionConduct workplace assessments in line with funding and compliance requirementsCoordinate host rotations where requiredProvide advice regarding training agreements and apprenticeship obligations
Stakeholder EngagementBuild and maintain effective relationships with:Host employersApprenticesSchools and career advisersTraining organisationsIndustry associationsGovernment and community stakeholders
Compliance & AdministrationMaintain accurate records using internal systemsEnsure field visits and reporting requirements are completed within required timeframesSupport compliance with WHS and apprenticeship requirementsAssist with disciplinary, performance management and counselling processes when required

Essential Skills & ExperienceDemonstrated ability to generate and secure recent business opportunitiesStrong interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skillsExcellent organisational and time management abilitiesConfidence working independently and managing your own scheduleProfessional approach with sound judgement and decision-making capabilityStrong administration and computer skillsUnderstanding of workplace health and safety requirementsAbility to engage effectively with apprentices, employers and industry stakeholdersCurrent driver's licenceAbility to obtain or hold a Working with Children Check and National Police Check
Highly RegardedSales or business development experienceKnowledge of the apprenticeship or Group Training Organisation (GTO) sectorUnderstanding of apprenticeship awards, wages and employment conditionsResidential building industry experienceTrade qualifications in a building-related tradeCertificate IV in Training and Assessment
