Scientific Lightning Solutions (SLS) is seeking a highly motivated, hands-on Electrical Engineer to join our growing technical team.

Primary Responsibilities
The Electrical Engineer will support a combination of field engineering, instrumentation, systems engineering, software development, data analysis, and applied research activities, including:
Conduct field inspections, electrical testing, and verification of lightning-protection, grounding, bonding, and surge-protection systems at critical facilities.
Install, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade state-of-the-art lightning-detection, localization, measurement, and monitoring systems.
Perform engineering analysis of lightning-event data, electromagnetic measurements, system behavior, and equipment performance.
Prepare clear, technically rigorous field inspection reports, test reports, engineering evaluations, and customer deliverables.
Support the systems-engineering lifecycle for custom instrumentation and data-acquisition systems, including requirements development, architecture, integration, testing, verification, validation, and deployment.
Develop scripts, software tools, and automated workflows for engineering-data acquisition, processing, visualization, quality control, and reporting.




Explore and apply artificial intelligence and machine-learning methods to support anomaly detection, signal classification, data interpretation, predictive analysis, workflow automation, and engineering decision support.
Perform laboratory and field testing, calibration, validation, and troubleshooting of electromagnetic sensors, electronic instrumentation, and data-acquisition systems.
Assist with the development and evaluation of new technologies for lightning monitoring, lightning-damage mitigation, and operational resilience.
Support applied research, field validation, and technical studies involving lightning behavior and its interaction with critical systems and infrastructure.
Collaborate directly with SLS engineers, SME, field personnel, customers, and strategic partners.
Support multiple projects while maintaining high standards for technical quality, safety, documentation, confidentiality, and customer service.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status as a Green Card holder.
Ability to successfully complete customer-required background screening and satisfy project-specific access requirements for secure private, aerospace, defense, and U.S. government facilities.
Some individual projects may be restricted to U.S. citizens based on customer or government requirements.
An active security clearance is not required for this position.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to approach complex technical problems with curiosity, discipline, and sound engineering judgment.
Foundational knowledge of electrical circuits, instrumentation, sensors, data acquisition, testing, or related electrical-engineering principles.
Proficiency in at least one scientific computing or programming language (e.g.: Python or MATLAB) Interest in artificial intelligence, data analytics, or advanced engineering automation.
Ability and willingness to use electrical test equipment, hand tools, and field-engineering equipment.
Willingness to combine office-based engineering, laboratory work, software development, data analysis, and practical field implementation.
Strong technical-writing, verbal-communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to organize work, manage competing priorities, and meet project deadlines.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary technical team.
Field And Physical Requirements
This is a hands-on engineering position that includes work in industrial, aerospace, power generation, and other critical infrastructure environments.
The successful candidate must be able and willing to:
Climb fixed ladders and access rooftops, equipment platforms, towers, and other elevated work areas in accordance with applicable safety requirements.
Carry, position, and use test equipment, tools, and instrumentation weighing up to 75 pounds, using appropriate assistance and lifting practices when required.
Work outdoors and at customer facilities under varying environmental and operational conditions.
Follow all SLS and customer safety, security, confidentiality, and site-access requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are beneficial but not required:
Master's or Ph.



D degree or advanced coursework in Electrical Engineering, electromagnetics, power systems, signal processing, controls, instrumentation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, physics, or a related technical field.
Internship, academic, laboratory, research, or project experience involving sensors, embedded systems, data acquisition, electrical testing, instrumentation, or scientific computing.
Experience with Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, SQL, Git, Linux, cloud-based data tools, or engineering-data visualization platforms.
Experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, statistical analysis, neural networks, signal classification, computer vision, or predictive analytics.
Familiarity with oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, network analyzers, calibration equipment, or other laboratory and field-test instrumentation.
Exposure to electromagnetic compatibility, grounding, surge protection, lightning protection, high-voltage engineering, power systems, signal processing, or atmospheric electricity.
Experience preparing technical reports, test procedures, engineering drawings, research documentation, or system specifications.
Strong interest in aerospace, defense, nuclear energy, power generation, advanced manufacturing, scientific instrumentation, or other mission-critical industries.
Position Details
Full-time, in-office position.
Initial travel is expected to be less than 10%, although travel may increase as the employee's capabilities and project responsibilities grow.
Field work may occasionally require early starts, extended days, or coordination around customer operational schedules.
