About us
The Fan & Light Shop is an established, family owned retail business in Mile End.
The store has been operating for over 40 years, specialising in ceiling fans, lighting, and ventilation.
We have a small, supportive team and focus on maintaining a friendly, cooperative working workplace where staff assist each other across daily tasks.
As we continue to grow our showroom and online operations, we are looking for a reliable full time Warehouse and Store Assistant to manage our stock operations.
About the role
This role is focused on the day to day operations of our warehouse, inventory management, and order fulfillment.
It is well suited to someone who is highly organised, enjoys working with established procedures, and takes pride in maintaining an efficient, tidy workspace.
Because retail can be seasonal in our industry, our warehouse workload fluctuates throughout the year.
During quieter periods, you will be expected to step out of the warehouse to assist the wider team with general store maintenance, keeping the showroom and premises clean, and helping with other daily operational tasks as required.
Key responsibilities include:
Logistics:Managing goods receiving and dispatch, including unloading stock and preparing outgoing shipments.
Order fulfillment:Accurately picking, packing, and labeling online & in store orders for prompt dispatch/collection.
Stock management:Sorting, allocating, and labeling incoming inventory according to our established store systems and procedures.




Inventory Accuracy:Conducting regular stocktakes and routine stock level checks to identify and correct any discrepancies, ensuring our system counts remain accurate.
Safety and cleanliness:Adhering strictly to workplace safety standards and ensuring the warehouse, showroom, and general premises are kept clean, organised, and tidy.
Roster and availability
This is a full time position operating primarily on a standard Monday to Friday roster.
However, because our business is seasonal and we operate 7 days a week, some weekend work will be required during our peak busy periods or as operational needs arise.
Flexibility to assist with weekend shifts when necessary is essential.
Skills and experience we are looking for:
Warehouse experience:Practical experience in a warehouse environment, with a strong understanding of inventory handling and order packing.
Process driven:Able to follow established procedures and systems accurately to maintain inventory integrity.
Workplace safety:A strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and your teammates.
Physical capability:The role involves regular physical tasks, being on your feet, and comfortably lifting stock boxes typically weighing around 8kg.
Reliability and attitude:A dependable work ethic and a flexible, team first attitude willing to pitch in and help with general store tasks whenever needed.
Required & helpful qualifications:
A current forklift license is highly regarded for this position.
A current, full Australian driver's license.
