As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experiencedSenior Draftspersonto take ownership of our design function and help shape the future of our products.
About the Role
This is more than a drafting position.
We're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership and seeing ideas become real products.
You'll become the primary design resource within the business, working directly with management and production to develop recent products, improve existing designs and solve manufacturing challenges.
From customer-specific trailer designs through to new product development and continuous improvement, you'll own projects from concept through to production while ensuring every design is practical, buildable and ready for manufacture.
This role suits someone who enjoys making decisions, solving problems and taking pride in seeing products built from their work.
Key Responsibilities
• Design custom trailers to suit customer requirements.
• Develop new trailer models, accessories and components.
• Improve existing products to reduce build time, complexity and manufacturing cost.
• Produce accurate manufacturing-ready SolidWorks models and drawings.
• Create Bills of Materials and manufacturing documentation.
• Design workshop jigs, fixtures and tooling.
• Work directly with production to solve manufacturing challenges.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding technical requirements and purchased components.
• Validate designs against practical manufacturing and fabrication constraints.
• Use basic FEA analysis where appropriate to validate and improve designs.
• Own projects from concept through to production.
• Drive ongoing product and manufacturing improvements.
What We're Looking For
• Extensive SolidWorks experience.
• Proven experience designing products for manufacture.
• Strong understanding of fabrication and manufacturing environments.
• Experience producing accurate manufacturing drawings.
• Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or SolidWorks Simulation.
• Strong understanding of cutting, folding, welding and assembly processes.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Australian working rights.
