SHIFTS:
Fortnightly clinical hours: Fridays, 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILTIES
KEY AREA:
Work within the Registered Nurse Scope of Professional Practice to ensure safe and appropriate Participant care.
Carry out comprehensive and accurate Participant assessments.
Formulate and implement comprehensive nursing care and individualised care planning for community-based Participant's.
Review, evaluate and update Participant assessments and care plans when required and as per The Support Space policies.
Support Participant independence throughout their healthcare journey.
Manage medication in accordance with facility procedures and professional guidelines.
DOCUMENTATION AND RECORD KEEPING:
Collate information from Participant's progress notes and complete all documentation to the required legislative and accreditation standard.
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT:
Identify areas for improvement by using the continuous quality improvement approach to problem solving.
Participate in quality assurance programs and policy reviews.
Attend in-service education and meetings where appropriate and demonstrate keen interest in, and attendance at, professional development sessions.
OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH:
Comply with NDIS Standards, legislation and policies governing practice.
Ensure a safe working environments is provided for employees and volunteers.
Model compliance with relevant legislation, professional standards, policies, procedures and instructions.
Ensure that all risk,
hazards and incidents are investigated, and adequate controls applied.
Participant in Participant Risk and Hazard Assessments to mitigate risks for Participants and employees.
LEADERSHIP:
Mentor, supervise and educate Support Workers and Enrolled Nurses.
Assume an appropriate level of responsibility and supervise and Support Workers and Enrolled Nurses.
Effectively project self as a role model for other staff.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Nursing
Current AHPRA Registration
Experience in Tracheostomy, Enteral Feeding, Ventilation, Catheter Management and other high intensity skills
National Police Clearance Check
NDIS Clearance Check
Working with Children's Check
Drivers Licence & Reliable Vehicle
NDIS Worker Orientation Module Completion
Ability to work occasional evenings, overnight and weekends
Ability to undertake manual handling tasks (including but not limited to lifting, bending)
Excellent time management and documentation skills
Strong communication and relationship building skills
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and within a team workplace
DESIRABLE:
Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
Current Manual Handling Certificate
Certificate IV Training and Assessment
Experience in Disability Care Services or community care services
Advanced/Intermediate knowledge of the Disability Sector
Experience with training and mentoring staff
