Paid Infantry Soldier Training – Australian Army

TheAustralian Army Infantry Soldierpathway, known in-service asRifleman, is a full-time role for people who want tochallenge themselves, work in aclose-knit team, and do somethingactive, meaningful and out of the ordinary.
No prior military experience is required.You will receive the training needed to become a capable Army soldier and develop thephysical, mental and practical skillsrequired for the role.
Pay and Perks
You arepaid while you train.
Starting salary:
$60,517 per annum
plus 16.4% superannuation
Once trained, salary increases to at least:
$82,322 per annum
plus 16.4% superannuation
This role may also attractadditional allowances, includingfield allowance.

What Infantry Soldiers Do
As anInfantry Soldier, you will become part of ahighly trained teamresponsible for supporting Army operations in demanding environments.
Training and employment may involve:
Patrolling and surveillance
Security tasksfor Army units and key assets
Offensive and defensive operations
Operating as part of aclose-knit team
Working alongside other Army corps and capabilities
Humanitarian assistance missions




International training, advise and assist missions
Developingphysical strength, discipline and mental resilience
Specialist Opportunities
Over time, Infantry Soldiers may have opportunities to specialise in areas such as:
Reconnaissance
Sniper
Mortars
Heavy weapons
Other combat-related specialist skills

Entry Requirements
Applicants generally need to:
Be anAustralian citizenoreligible Australian permanent resident
Be at least17 years oldto enter the ADF
Have acheckable background
Have completedYear 10
Be reasonablyfit and healthy
Have no suspended or cancelled driver's licence, if they hold one
You can usually start your application from16.5 years old.
