Job Description
About the Opportunity
The Investigator plays a pivotal role in enhancing and supporting the University's complaints and investigations framework.
This position is responsible for conducting impartial and thorough investigations into complaints and allegations, applying trauma-informed principles while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
The role manages investigations of varying complexity, including the collection and analysis of evidence, conducting interviews with relevant parties, and preparing comprehensive reports containing findings and recommendations to inform decision-making.
Working closely with complainants and key stakeholders, the Investigator ensures matters are progressed in a timely, transparent, and professional manner.
The position also provides investigative expertise and support to specialist teams, contributes to capability-building initiatives across the Integrity and Complaints Team, and promotes best-practice investigative processes.
In addition, the Investigator identifies and assesses risks arising from investigations and contributes to initiatives that strengthen organisational integrity, drive continuous improvement, and support effective risk management across the University.
Key Responsibilities




Conduct complex investigations into staff and student matters in line with legislation, policy, and trauma-informed practice.
Manage investigations across all types of complaints and conduct, including staff and student misconduct, research integrity, privacy, public interest disclosures, corruption, and gender-based violence matters.
Gather, analyse, and assess evidence to develop findings and recommendations.
Interview complainants, respondents, and witnesses while ensuring procedural fairness and natural justice.
Deliver impartial, evidence-based outcomes while maintaining confidentiality and compliance obligations.
Liaise with stakeholders, including Human Resources and decision-makers, to support timely case resolution.
Maintain accurate investigation records, evidence logs, and case documentation.
Provide case updates and elevate risks, sensitivities, and emerging issues as required.
Collaborate with Integrity and Complaints Officers to ensure effective case coordination and communication.
Contribute to investigative capability, best practice, and organisational integrity initiatives.
About you
The occupant of this position will hold relevant postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
A Certificate IV in Government Investigations is desirable.

HEW 8 Salary – base range - $117,****** - $132,****** + 17% super.
Full package range - $137,****** - $154,******.
