Specialised Alternative Learning Program
The Case Worker will work closely with our Educator and Youth Workers to facilitate a strength-based approach to develop case plans with young persons and their family to achieve better outcomes for education, work, life skills and family support, to reduce the risk of offending, re-offending, and anti-social behaviours.
The successful Case Worker will be experienced in assisting young persons to engage in alternative education, build better relationships with their family, peers, and institutions.
Together you will celebrate small achievements, remain committed during setbacks and create a protected, supportive environment where young people feel heard, respected, and empowered to succeed.
Your ability to combine empathy with accountability will enable you to help young people achieve meaningful, long-term outcomes for themselves and their communities.
About the Role
Position is 35 hours a week.
Monday-Friday (2 positions available)
Assist and support young people with complex needs, identifying underlying issues contributing to disconnection from education, services and support.
Engage and support young people aged ***** years to access a safe place to engage with education, activities, cultural activities.
Implement an alternative learning education program for young people, increasing their engagement with learning through fun and supportive activities.




Help young people to remain active in the program and diverted from potential disengagement from school systems.
Implement Behavior Management strategies that respect the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of the young person.
Supervision and support of young people in the daily operations of their individual education program and activities.
Encourage and support young persons and their family to build relationships within Community, improving access and connectedness to Community Elders mentorship.
Conduct needs assessments to understand clients' situations and determine appropriate interventions.
Ensure that the voices, views, and opinions of young individuals are heard and considered when decisions are made about their lives.
Work autonomously within company guidelines and provide support and assistance to staff.
Desirable skills and experience
SC 1Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant field e.g. Education, youth work, social work, community development OR lesser qualifications with substantial years of relevant or equivalent experience.
Candidates with qualifications below degree level must demonstrate a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant or equivalent experience.




SC 2Demonstrable knowledge and skills gained through qualifications and/or previous experience in a similar role involving assessment and case coordination, referral and advice to individuals and families with complex needs in a community services setting.
SC 3Strong organisational and time-management skills to effectively plan and coordinate educational program activities.
SC 4Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with extensive experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and building and promoting local networks and relationships with relevant service providers.
SC 5Capacity to assess, advocate, facilitate and coordinate, on behalf of service users, to achieve the best possible outcomes.
SC 6Proficiency in data collection and reporting to track program outcomes.
SC 7Current Queensland Class C Drivers Licence, Satisfactory National Police Clearance, and current positive Working with Children Blue Card.
