A qualified and experienced veterinary nurse is required to cover a period of maternity leave at a busy small animal general practice in the southern suburbs of Adelaide.
The role will commence in mid-September **** and is expected to continue for a minimum of six months.
It will initially be offered on a casual basis, with the possibility of permanent full-time employment for the right candidate.
The practice employs 3 vets and 4 nurses, with 2 vets and 2 to 3 nurses working each day.
The successful applicant will share reception and surgical nursing duties, providing variety across the working week and contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the clinic.
A set roster of approximately 34 to 35 hours per week is available from Monday to Saturday.
Reception shifts run from 8:30 am to 5 pm, while surgical nursing shifts are from 8:45 am to 6:15 pm.
Saturday mornings are shared across the nursing team from 8 am to 12 midday, with one nurse rostered each Saturday.
There are no after-hours requirements.
Applicants must hold a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing,



or an equivalent qualification, and have at least 2 years of general practice experience.
Confidence in surgical nursing, anaesthetic monitoring, wound care and post-operative care is required, along with robust animal handling skills.
The nurse should also be comfortable collecting blood samples and placing intravenous catheters.
The role would suit someone who can work independently when required while also contributing positively to a close-knit team.
Strong communication, customer service, decision-making and organisational skills are important, along with a compassionate, patient-focused approach and careful attention to detail.
