Luma is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to enhancing the health and wellbeing of Western Australian women since ****, delivering medical, allied health, mental health, FDV advocacy, health promotion and education across the Perth area.
Luma is seeking a compassionate Aboriginal Counsellor to provide culturally safe, trauma-informed counselling and support to Aboriginal women.
Working within a holistic and outreach-focused service, you will use your knowledge, lived experience, and skills to build trusting relationships, strengthen care, and support positive social and emotional wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal women and their communities.

Key responsibilities include:
Counselling & Support:Manage a counselling caseload, providing culturally safe, trauma-informed therapeutic support to Aboriginal women.
Relationship Building:Build trusting relationships with clients and support clients to identify goals and actively participate in their wellbeing journey.
Outreach Service Delivery:Deliver services across diverse sites, including outreach settings, which may involve the use of a private vehicle.




Culturally Responsive Practice:Contribute cultural knowledge and insights to inform care planning and service delivery.
Documentation & Reporting:Maintain accurate and timely client records, case notes, assessments, and service documentation in accordance with organisational and professional standards.
About you:
Tertiary qualification in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, Community Services, or an equivalent combination of qualifications, cultural knowledge, lived experience, and demonstrated skills relevant to the role.
Strong understanding of Aboriginal cultures, communities, kinship systems, and the social and emotional wellbeing needs of Aboriginal people.
Experience supporting clients to navigate health, mental health, community, and social support systems, including advocacy and referral pathways.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to maintain accurate client records, case notes, and reports.
