Cherry Creek Youth Justice Precinct is our newest facility and accommodates young men in 4-bed and 8-bed units across several neighbourhoods.
As a youth justice worker, you will guide them through their rehabilitation by role modelling positive behaviour and keeping the environment safe.
You will also encourage them to get involved in hands-on programs which build real skills and a better chance of finding meaningful work when they return to the community.
This is not a dedicated case management or youth work role.
You will follow and promoteimportant security proceduresevery day and be apositive role modelfor complex young people.
You will alsoset boundariesand reinforce expected behaviours.
Your work will help young people get their lives back on track by:
creating asafe and secure environmentfor both staff and young people
helpingyoung people establish healthy routinesand work to a daily structure
redirecting anti-social and challenging behaviourto the standards expected by the community
responding to incidentsas they occur
helping young people developpositive family and peer relationships
facilitating supportfrom other services, including health and mental health providers, educators and disability organisations.
