THE ROLE - CUSTOMER SERVICE & SALES
TheSales & Customer Service — Fencing & Deckingrole is a hands-on, customer-focused position responsible for converting inbound sales enquiries into profitable fencing and decking sales.
The role includes responding to digital leads, qualifying customer needs, preparing quotes, following up open opportunities and maintaining accurate customer and pipeline activity inHubSpot.
The successful candidate will work closely with customers, sales, production and dispatch to ensure enquiries are handled promptly, quotes are accurate, and customer expectations are clearly managed.
This role suits a practical, commercially minded salesperson who enjoys customer contact, disciplined follow-up and working toward weekly sales targets.
ROLE SPECIFICS
Respond promptly to inbound sales enquiries generated through digital marketing, website forms, phone calls, email and other lead channels.
Qualify customer requirements, including product type, site location, measurements, timing, budget and installation needs.
Prepare accurate customer quotes for fencing and decking products, including product components, freight, delivery timing and any required follow-up information.
UseHubSpotto manage leads, customer communication, quote status, follow-up tasks and pipeline activity.
Follow up open quotes with disciplined phone and email contact to improve conversion and reduce lost opportunities.
Provide transparent product guidance to customers,



including fencing styles, decking options, accessories, installation considerations and lead times.
Work with production, dispatch and operations to confirm stock availability, manufacturing timing and delivery expectations.
Maintain strong customer communication from initial enquiry through to quote, order confirmation and handover.
Support weekly sales targets by actively progressing every lead and quote toward a clear outcome.
Keep customer records, quote notes and next actions accurate and up to date.
Assist with customer service matters, including order updates, product questions, delivery queries and basic issue resolution.
Escalate technical, pricing, warranty or operational matters where required.
Work in a hybrid model, with regular connection to the Portarlington site and customer-facing activity as needed.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Proven experience in a hands-on sales or customer service role, preferably in a product-based business.
Strong customer communication skills across phone, email and face-to-face interactions.
Ability to qualify customer enquiries, understand requirements and progress opportunities toward a sale.
Experience preparing customer quotes and following up open opportunities.
Comfortable working to weekly sales targets and being accountable for activity and outcomes.
Strong attention to detail when managing customer information, quote notes and follow-up actions.
Ability to use CRM systems to manage leads, pipeline activity and customer communication; HubSpot experience highly regarded.
Confident using the Google suite of products, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Sheets and Google Docs.
Practical, organised and commercially minded, with the ability to work across sales, customer service, production and dispatch.
