Westside Support Servicesis seeking experienced and confidentDisability Support Workersto support participants withphysical disabilities and complex psychosocial needsacross Geelong and surrounding areas.
Supports are primarily located inGeelong, with flexibility to work in other locations such as Werribee or Altona.
This role suits calm, capable professionals who can deliver high-quality physical supports while also maintaining strong boundaries and safely managing situations where behaviours may escalate.
About the Role
You will support participants withcomplex physical support needs and/or severe mental health challenges.
The role requires adaptability, sound judgement, and the ability to shift between practical support and emotional/behavioural support as needed.
Duties may include:
Assisting with personal care, mobility, and daily living tasks
Supporting routines, skill-building, and independence
Providing emotional regulation and mental health support
Implementing behaviour support plan strategies
Using trauma-informed and recovery-focused practice
Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours
Completing accurate documentation and timely shift notes
Working collaboratively with clinical and support teams
What We're Looking For
You bring both capability and confidence, including:
Experience supporting people withphysical disabilities and/or severe mental health conditions




Proven de-escalation and conflict-management skills
Ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-focused under pressure
Robust communication and boundary-setting skills
A participant-centred, trauma-informed approach
Reliability, consistency, and a proactive attitude
Mandatory Requirements
Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Mental Health, Community Services, or similar
Current First Aid & CPR
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
Valid Driver's Licence
Full COVID-19 vaccination status (if applicable to current requirements)
Desirable
Experience with high-physical-support or restrictive practice environments
Training in SafeMinds, MAPA/PMVA, or similar behaviour intervention frameworks
Mental Health First Aid
Manual handling and complex physical support experience
Experience in psychosocial recovery-oriented programs
