Primary objective
Provide renal services at Royal Darwin Hospital or Alice Springs Hospital, extended in-centre and satellite nephrology and
dialysis service thought the Northern Territory and participate in the Renal Outreach Programme.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high quality day-to-day care for inpatient and outpatient clinical services in the relevant departments
(Department of Renal Medicine / Internal Medicine).
2. Supervise the day-to-day activities of interns and residents and ensure good overall quality of clinical care and medical
recordkeeping.
3. Participate in the on-call roster as required to ensure proper functioning of the hospital.
4. Initiate and partake in quality management, peer review and ongoing personal medical education programs.
5. Participate in the departmental teaching activities as well as teaching for junior staff and education programs for medical
students.
6. Undertake research/ completion of the mandated College projects as appropriate.
7. Participate in other duties as delegated by the Head of Department and Clinical Supervisors.
8. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
9. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.




2. Passed RACP written and clinical exam or recognised overseas equivalent.
3. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact positively in a cross-cultural work
environment, as a team member.
4. Ability to work effectively as part of the multi-disciplinary team comprised of doctors, scientists, technicians and infection
prevention staff
5. An interest in and a commitment to improving Aboriginal health.
6. Evidence of commitment to continuing education, teaching, research and quality assurance activities.
