About The Role
The Leader, Engagement operates within the Curriculum Connections and Engagement Directorate, working under broad policy direction and substantial autonomy to deliver critical engagement strategies that advance the Department for Education's public education ambitions for all children and young people across South Australia.
The Leader, Engagement provides expert leadership in designing, implementing and communicating curriculum engagement initiatives, partnering with schools, system leaders and external organisations to deliver high-impact programs.
The Leader ensures priorities are achieved by coordinating multidisciplinary teams, aligning objectives, and responding proactively to emerging challenges in a dynamic education environment.
As a respected authority in their field, the Leader, Engagement influences key policy, program adoption, and planning decisions.
The Leader is pivotal in establishing enduring relationships and integrated approaches that enable reform and continuous improvement across the division, department, and education system.
About Curriculum And Learning Division
The Curriculum and Learning Division is responsible for supporting educators within the public education system to provide the best learning possible to our children and young people.
Driving its work is the Strategy for Public Education and the achievement of our ambitions for our learners.
The Division has responsibility for all curriculum and learning initiatives, policies, and programmes and has recently undergone a functional design process resulting in the establishment of six directorates, four of which are new to the division.

The Curriculum Connections and Engagement directorate drives collaborative engagement with all system leaders and external partners, supporting the integrated delivery of key projects, events, and communications for transformative impact.
Qualifications
Essential: NIL
Desirable: Relevant tertiary qualification in public administration, marketing, communications or a related discipline.
Special conditions
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS)
working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration
SM1 (SS/SM1) $144,421 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (12%) and leave loading
