What we're looking for
We're seeking a versatile, open-minded automotive mechanic to join our Burleigh Heads workshop on a casual/part-time basis.
This role blends hands-on mechanical work with fitting aftermarket parts and accessories to VW Transporters and Amarok's, Ford Transit Customs and Rangers.
You'll need solid mechanical and electrical experience – any van conversion experience will be highly regarded.
The flexible, hours suit someone after work-life balance or anyone looking to top up their week with quality work in a relaxed, well-run shop close to the beach.
Responsibilities
• General mechanical work – We do upgrade brakes and suspension which requires Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
• Some diagnostics involved, FDRS, Forescan and Rlink.
• Van conversions, including carpeting, sound proofing, wiring, dual battery systems and seat coverings, as well as fitting replacement headlights, grilles, body kits, wheels and roof racks.
• 4x4 vehicle upgrades – fitting wheels and tyres, flares, bull bars, brakes and lighting.
• Installing light bars and other electrical accessories.
• Detailed pre-work inspections – care for the customer's vehicle like it's your own.
• Use and maintain workshop equipment such as the hoist, tyre fitter, wheel balancer and compressor.
• Help with warehouse duties including shipping and inventory organisation.
Requirements
• Mechanical qualifications (e.g. Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology) or extensive experience in the automotive industry.
• Full work rights in Australia
• Aftermarket and van conversion experience highly regarded.
• Sound mechanical and electrical skills with a methodical, quality-focused approach.
• Experience fitting and balancing automotive wheels and tyres.
• A valid driver's licence and reliable transport is a must.
• Excellent communication and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
