The Tin Shed – Port Douglas
Full Time or Part Time | $38+ per hour | $78,000–$85,000 package (FT equivalent)

The Tin Shed is one of Port Douglas' most iconic waterfront venues, renowned for quality food, outstanding service and an unbeatable location overlooking Dicksons Inlet.
We're looking for one or two experienced Chef de Parties to join our kitchen team.
Whether you're seeking a permanent full-time position or quality part-time hours, we're prepared to tailor the role to the right applicant.
What we offer
• Competitive salary package of $78,000-$85,000 (Full Time equivalent)
• Casual/Part Time hourly rate around $40 per hour

About the role
You'll play an important role in delivering consistently high-quality food a hig in a high volume venue, while working closely with our Head Chef and kitchen team.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys producing quality meals, takes pride in presentation and works well in a busy service environment.
About you
You'll ideally have:




• Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or experienced Commis Chef ready to step up
• Trade qualifications in Commercial Cookery
• Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene
• Ability to remain calm under pressure
• Pride in consistency and presentation
• Excellent organisational skills
• A positive team attitude

Key Responsibilities
• Prepare, cook and present menu items to established recipes and presentation standards.
• Take responsibility for an allocated kitchen section during service.
• Ensure all food is prepared safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
• Maintain food safety and hygiene in accordance with HACCP and legislative requirements.
• Monitor stock levels and advise ordering requirements.
• Minimise waste through effective stock rotation and portion control.
• Assist with receiving and checking deliveries.
• Maintain a clean and organised work area.




• Assist with menu development and daily specials where required.
• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen brigade to ensure efficient service.
• Follow all Workplace Health and Safety procedures.
• Assist with opening and closing kitchen procedures.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
Minimum 2 Years Experience in a similar role.
• Previous experience in a busy commercial kitchen
• Strong understanding of food safety and HACCP principles
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Ability to work under pressure during busy service periods
• High attention to detail
• Positive team attitude
• Flexible availability including evenings and weekends
